Zacks 1st email from the field

DAD- yea i heard teh BYU game was sad but oh well i aint doin sports haha. yea my companion messed his ankle up and i cut up my leg kick ball can be rough with the sign people haha. well as you visited i got called an apostate but whatever they are just jealous haha. well mirical time!! i have been super home sick honestly and i thought about going home and the more i thought about that the more it thought about me not being worthy to be here and what not so i was teaching a member family that had us over for dinner and it hit me that i just need to make sure for certain everything is cleaned up and president is great so ill talk to him so he can make me feel better haha but as i was teaching i just had a great feeling that what im doing here is good and i love it here the members are super strong and feeding us almost every night! the people that want to hear the gospel are great! but tracting is just so hard for me and being rejected time after time really blows but when i find that one person my whole day is so much better! we were inspiration tracting we call it and thats where we find a house we are inspired to check so we were knocking person says get lost knock on another no answer knock on another no answer walk up to a biker SUCH A GREAT GUY! we talked he took a book of mormon and said he would call us we are going to visit him he says he wants to hear more from us really funny really nice! We mostly work with less actives with my companion! anyway so im a lot better now still home sick but im trying to just get lost in the lords work and keep my mind off home family and friends. my P days are on Monday just so you know. G-ma told me about your fishing trip great fun! i hope your not mad when i say my camera is broke i dunno how but it is so emergency money is getting a new camera :) yea i got the tie and sim card love the tie and the card hope you got my other sim card i sent! i am actually hoping i go to the gettoh area next because everyone there respects you not like up here in carmicheal area they are to rich and busy for the likes of us. However we are teaching some really great people we are going to have a baptism for 2 soon as well :) I am learning the piano and staying at an old ladies house who is a member she is 87 and went skydiving HOW COOL! she is really sweet every now and then i get a glimps of football she loves watching football haha. i know strict obedience is hard. I am continuing my sign learning with the "def" sisters here we call them that but they are just ASL sister missionaries. no we aint been to the shire yet but i saw it and want to go there. Stockten is a real bad place just so you know, they have a monthly death rate sign i think its monthly might be yearly either way its for the murder rate its at 37 last i saw. I hear its a great place for missionaries though. There is place in my mission called the shire so thats what i mean by we aint been to the shire:):) well im sorry to hear about gordan send him my love ill pray for him for sure! As far as needing anything how much money do i have on my card??  i just need to get my camera so emergency cash is on the camera sorry..... Well i love you and the family and i love here and teaching is easy just wish i could do more service ya know. I LOVE YOU ALL HOPE TO HEAR MORE FROM YOU AND ABOUT THE MOVIES! i love everything about you all and keep sending me goodies i also am sending home some college supplies so put em on my box :) missionaries leave behind useful things. Oh! also i talked to someone on the airplane she is reading the book for mormon now we had a great talk the whole ride she loved it said she felt the spirit so that was happy news! also mail me in snail mail so i get it before monday what jeremy's address is and whatever else you wanna say in it ahha i love you!! Also the mission thing here is we have to part our hair every day and say love you to all ELDERS not sisters when hanging up the phone haha.  I LOOK LIKE A DORK WITH PARTED HAIR! so i get away without doing it some days :) Also first day here gnarly fire right by the temple so i could not go there sadly oh well i got other times to go.

Kate- thats ok you missed my call i was not on very long you will see me on Christmas, THATS RIGHT SEE ME i can Skype here! I am told that anyway we will see. glad you had fun at homecomeing i its a great dance! whats funny is i think for my first homecoming i went to Bonzi or Asian star so your following my footsteps. Yea i know him and his older brother so he is a pretty good kid from what i can tell! Sorry to hear about the dog i miss her a lot i love her so very much i really miss her i wanna see her when i get my Christmas call. i hoipe that everything picks up there soon sorry to leave yall desolate without us there haha. i love you very much and miss you hope school is going well for you! keep me posted on your life it gets me through the weeks thats for certain. Kevin- actually ill have you know my sign name is sand fish because i did flips dives and flopped around in sand volleyball and kick ball, ill show you how it goes when i skype home just remind me ok!!!! I love you!! i also love it here even though it gets me down i love talking to those who want to hear and those who reject me they say not to take it personally out here but thats hard for me with these people i dont know why. anyway glad lisa is following my footsteps seems like i left behind some fun trends eh? by the way my comp SNORES like nobodies business and he is asleep literally in seconds im not kidding it sucks to sleep but i manage i just wake up a lot so i stay pretty tired haha. yea he is a tough guy but he is all bark and no bite he is funny and laughs a lot very loving but i keep him around so he keeps me safe haha love they guy.

Steph- honestly i miss the MTC things were already planned out and it was easier haha. I LOVE the MTC everyone there is really nice. the free dinner aint changed thats for sure everyone feeds me :)  anyway glad everything is ok and i left some kind of impression even if its just a wild dog impression haha im joking i love you very much!! HI slade i love you too your awesome and i hope to see you on my Christmas call!

Megan- sorry i aint wrote back they only let me write letters on mondays as well IT SUCKS! anyway your awesome i love you and a letter is being sent your way its great! It's also very long with a gift. Feel blessed because my family dont get gifts yet haha! hope all is well write me often send as many letters as you think can make it before monday or one HUGE one taht makes it before monday, but read mine first ok?

Padre!!!! It has been an eventful week on this end as well. It's all good about the call, I saw ya'll on Saturday so its whatever. Yeah my companion is Kuntaa Pomo, (like a boss in Estonian) I set up a Baptism my 3rd day in and we have 2 others along with another probable on the way. It's been a great week. My first day out tracting was crazy, while my companion, who is Elder Taumoelau btw, was doing correlation with another ZL, Elder Olivera, I was out with  Elder Martin who came in with me on the plane. It  was my first time and Elder Martins first haha we had low expectations to say the least. But I ran into a guy named Gregory with his brother on the side of the road and he started talking to me. His brother was homeless and was trying to get some food stamps at some government place. I started talking with him and I got into the restoration a bit, then he started talking about some stuff that sounded like he got from Slaughter House-Five (Kurt Vonnegut). He was fairly eccentric but I really felt like he absorbed the message and felt the spirit. Sadly he was out of my zone so I wasn't able to meet with him again. That Sunday, however, he was at Elder Black and Elder Haines ward and said that he had read the BofM and that he wanted to know more! I was pretty pumped hearing this ha. I've had such a great time so far, my group of Elder Taumoelau, Black, Haines, Olivera and Martin have had some crazy times already. The mission really is a ton better then the MTC was. Thanks for sending those thing, btw send everthing priority mail because otherwise I have to go up to the Mission home which is about 2hrs away. Also I haven't told you where I'm at yet. I'm in Roseberg, the zone is pretty big but its beautiful country. Its about an hour N. of Grants Pass, which is where I was hoping to go. Every morning we have 1 1/2 mile run up a mountain, its pretty killer hahaha The bike is awesome also, we just got it set up last night. The investigators that we have set up for baptisms are awesome. Rodrigo is the one that we are working on the hardest, he's tough to teach because he really doesn't have a very solid education. The others are Olivia and Shayleena. They are both friends and are quite incredible sisters, w/ all of the temptations around here they have managed to stay away from it. They are more modest then most of the other sisters in the ward, they always wear long dresses and they seem to understand the commandments better then any of the other youth in the ward. They are extremely modest, which is rare, save a few others in the ward. On top of that they are pretty hot which would make it even harder, it kind of throws me off a bit haha They have an insane amount of faith I feel like they are teaching me sometimes. I went out tracting in a town called Glide on saturday. We ran into a bunch of older gents and most of them weren't interested at all, but I think some are going to give us a call back. We also ran into a Jehovah's Witness who seemed extremely interested and we are going to meet with her next week. A lot of what we are doing though is trying to help get people back to church, we have been going to a lot of in-actives and are trying to bring them back in.  The Castrignano family is one we are really honed in on. The father is trying to keep his family active and is a great guy but his wife may be an Alcoholic and their 13yr old daughter seems to be having some Chastity problems. They are such amazing people especially the father and Lenny (12yr old), I really am hoping to help them out. The families up here are incredible though, they are having us over for dinner all  the time, donating stuff to our apartment (its new and we have nothing hahahaha)  and all of the RM's want to be active in helping us w/ lessons. The Bishop is awesome and so is the High Priests Leader, Brother Landers. About the Bednar talk its a video, but I don't know if you can watch it, I saw it at the MTC, but its a good one. I'm pumped to hear about who the new Bishopric is gonna be you gotta let me know asap. I can't wait to see some pictures of my new NEPHEW!! *lisa,katie*. Well I love you and I really have nothing to say but good things about up here, tell Zach I say what's up and sorry for not seeing him before we got on the plane. Katies BF looks like Draco btw. Kevin- "i'm totally 90% over it" hahaha!!! Thanks I miss that humor of yours haha There is a kid in my ward that looks just like you when you were 6 or so, its freaking sad, everytime I see him I get a wee bit home sick ha, but its fine, I bet this kevin is cooler haha! My area is Suburban and kinda ghetto in some areas, its a really big area. It's Half Bike half Car, its a lot of fun. We have a huge mountain we run up every morning. Good job on the stalking, keep it up, I'm counting on you to keep up the old antics! I'm loving the mission so far, I'd like to think I'm adjusting very quickly, and i'm really growing. My compy really is awesome, I just can't believe that Zack got paired with one also. Actually as it turns out today 53% of Tonga is Mormon! crazy huh.Read above to get some more details about the week. I love you and miss you, keep on chuggin at home, send pics of the Halloween set up, I want to print them off and set them up in the Apt. Do it panorama style so it takes up a lot of room. STEPH!! It's good to hear from ya, you would love the area i'm at, its such a pretty spot, its quite foggy in the morning and afternoon, but that's just how it is in this part of Oregon I guess. I'm glad I got through the MTC also it was kinda crazy but it wasn't to bad. I'm just glad to be here. Sorry I don't have long to write! I heard about the game, it was much sadnesssss.. But at least it was a good game to watch right. I had a mental break because of the lack of music hahahaha I woke up w/ a song by blind willy johnson in my head and it totally killed my day, but as of tomorrow i'm gonna rock out to some classical!! It was great to see ya'll and I miss little Lia and Chincy, take good care of them. I can't believe that you went to lagoon, we leave then you start going to concerts and Lagoon, I see how it is. jk lol jk lol Kate I'm glad you got asked out but make sure kev roughs him up for Zack and I. yeah i've worked 13hr shifts before they are no bueno... but moneys good :D keep up the good work I know you gots this. Well I love you and I am glad that you are doing well I'll try and write Mike and Dave when I can. Its hard finding time to write haha.

Kate I completely agree, some of my companions have been able to wingman with me but whenever we get going some other of the elders come and cut us off (you're not supposed to flirt in here hahahahahaha) I'm glad Sammy is doin well, and I miss that puppy.... Sorry I can't write much to ya I only have 30 minutes. I'm glad you're stayin busy just find time to relax also don't stress yourself out to much but keep working it'll be worth it and it builds character haha I love ya

The MTC is the bomb.com though, my humor is wasted here a lot of the time though and I come off as sacreligious a lot of the time, but hey o well adds some spice to the day. Our district is awesome and so are my bunkies and companion. Yeah I role play a bunch here it's kind of annoying sometimes but I'm learning, I'm going to learn Italian now btw. ALI is going to write me so i'm preparing for the future, ali's sister is in ITALIA so good luck with that hahaha but don't worry i've been following the wise advice "so keep yours closed" its tough though there are so many pretty sistasssss tis the hard life haha. I have been keeping a journal though just mainly about people and stuff though. But hey I love you and tell everyone I love them. p.s. all the food here is bad for your stomach!

 well dad the meds are great because there is a sickness spreading like wildfire here so i want to be prepared! and i have not checked if its the right sim card yet sorry ill do that and send you a letter, hope you been getting my letters. we went to the temple today it was pretty cool! i also do a temple walk around 2:30 P.M. if someone wants to "bump" into me although i cant talk long. I cant get away with very much im rooming with the zone leaders and the district leader!! I love my roomates though they are great. we were teaching a druggie guy and we wanted to ask him to get high on THG (the holy ghost) instead of THC i thought it was funny! we have 3 investigators now and the one that had me down that we had a really hard time with we are doing a lot better now we really connected with her and i think we are going to ask her to be baptized next lesson and we have 2 other baptismal commitments so thats really good! sometimes i dont think i feel the spirit here but then i pray and pray and pray like 30 times a day and even though it dont always feel like the spirit it does to the investigator and if it helps them i know what it was because i aint the best teacher as you know. by the way fast sundays BLOW i never fasted for 24 hours before i almost died haha! I dunno whats up with jeremy we did not get a P day the first week so that may be why i just kinda snuck onto the E-mail thing for my last one so you should hear from him soon i know he is getting the packages! thanks for all the stuff you sent its great help!! and sorry i ask for  so much it will die down when im situated!  but things are great here just excited to leave its to cramped here for me! and apples keep randomly showing up in my dorm dunno why. im less tired though so thats good dunno why but i am just less tired also IMPORTANT INFO im shipping out  on the 18th I CAN CALL HOME!!!! probably around the time BETWEEN 8:30 and 11:00 in the MORNING so be ready! Also couldi get david beoduains mailing address for snail mail please!!!!??? :)

Megan- i dunno why my letters are taking so long to get to you just know i have to send them by snail mail so dont stop writting me just know that it will be slower! and its exciting your teaching all those people thats pretty crazy good luck herding cats!! i sent a couple letters so look for them!:):) we have made a lot of progress with our newest investigator you will read in the mail letter i sent that its good for me it really had me down first lesson she rejected everything but now we are doing well!! Also with letter the key is really long letters send long ones! and everybody should DEAR ELDER ME! it would be very nice! maybe i can help with pointers on how to teach i have been learning a lot of good info on teaching but it may only work on adults i dunno but its tough to handle this many investigators  but we will succeed. its hard with my companion he is super super homophobic no touching him or anything sucks for me since i got no personal space bubble! Parker- yea i aint got any letters till this one parker so i dunno maybe my district leader is hiding them from me since i make old man jokes and bengay jokes because he is 26 years old its fun though he joins in he is a great guy! anyway things are great here and the puns are a huge hit here like everyone cracks up for so long! you might like the THG joke we made in the part to my family im sure you read. i miss ya though its weird without you guys but i stay real bust here I LOVE P DAYS SO FREAKING MUCH!!!! not a lot to do its great! i have had a couple secret club meetings and my companions just look at me weird haha! and its to bad ya missed me but you now know when im callin home!!  anyway how are you how is school tell me all the dirty secrets and stuff send me more letters please!!!!!!! i love dear elder!

IN GENERAL- my posted time of leaving is on the family part of the EMAIL. My E-mail will change when i leave to the one on the paper i handed out and my mailing address! you can also still dear elder me when im in cali just so you know. So i love it here i also wanna get out and the food is usually good but if its not good it sucks real bad haha no in between. also i would like some mailing stamps because they cost lots and i only get 6 dollars a week and i need liek3 of the to go to laundry. Well i got to go have a great one fellas!!

Hey padre, sorry this is the first chance that I have had to write email for you. I haven't even been on Email until today, its my Pday. I have sent you mail though, so you should've gotten somethin. I brought another journal so I'm okay with that, but I do need 2 pairs of jeans, there are some in my closet, the white ones and the blue ones with the button back pockets would be appreciated if you could, along with some Unisom hahahaha Serious though hook up some Unisom I cant sleep at 1030 ha. I'm lovin everythin so far, my Companion Elder Gabbitis is a really chill guy. He's from Bakersfield Cali. My bunkies are awesome and my District is incredable, everyone around me is a spiritual giant. My bunkies are Elder Phair, Elder Damis, Anziano Carr, and Anziano MiCintire. The Anazion's as I call them are going to Italy, speaking of Italy Sorrela De Ruvo is an Italian Sister who I've run into and she is just crazyyy. I ran into her at the temple and it was like running into a brick wall, I turned around and went straight to her and just started chattin up. My Elders lost me cause they didn't know I turned around haha My companion was trippin out, and when they found me they just started laughin it up. I know that's not the right reason to be here but still its been a fun additive. I haven't forgotten why I am here however. I have grown so much while I have been here, my district and my companion has helped me so much. I actually feel the spirit here, which isn't something I have felt in forever. I wish that I could've been there for Chars wedding, tell her congrats for me and tell Slade Jason and Ashley Happy B-Day and I love them.I'm writing you letters also, that will probably be the primary way in which I write to you. I don't know how much time I have left on here so I'm going to have to keep this kinda short. Lucky for you though the MTC has USB mini card readers now so I can send you pictures.. The picture in the Room is of Elder Damis Florida, on the bed, then Gabbitis is the one with me then in the room again is Elder Gabbitis, Phair, Egan and Lacey from left to right. Phair and Damis are my bunkies, then Egan and Lacey are in my District. I've gotta go but love ya and hope all is well.

well things are goin really great hree im super tired almost all the time getting up has not been hard, its been going to sleep! my companion is elder ross he is a great guy from colorado. jeremy is sleeping on the floor right above mine so i see him semi often, however our scheduals do not meet up. i know i left that stuff just send my pre concicrated oil that would be nice i bought a journal and the books. anyway things are great here i sent you a letter with lots of info. the elders here are so crazy! they made me Sr. companion and im rooming with the zone leaders and district leader but they are all good guys. im actually learning so much about the book of mormon and i have some scriptures memorized, never thought that would happen! however im learning lots of different languages and i have 3 investigators we are doin great! i think its awesome here! i got plenty of time to eat and the scheduals are sometimes relaxed but usually just really really busy with teaching and learning its fun!! well get a hold of megan tell here to send me her whole address i need it! thank you very much!! how is everything there!!?? i got some cool roommates one is hawaiian and one from oklahoma the rest from utah but im the only 19 year old in the district pretty crazy but i got to go finish laundry it only comes once a week haha!
